Your courses and residencies will focus on building dissertation advising pay leadership competencies, policy expertise, and the skills you need to support dissertation research.

You'll learn theories combined with real-world applications and practical skills you can apply on the job right away. Through the Doctor of Management in Community College Policy and Administration, you'll learn how to conduct and use evidence-based research to make data-informed decisions for management challenges in higher education.


Your dissertation will include a systematic review of a complex issue or problem in the community college environment. Most students choose to apply the results of their dissertation research to their home institutions. This dissertation advising pay is designed to develop community college faculty and administrators and other professionals who are interested in becoming transformational leaders and advancing in senior-level careers in community colleges, state or federal agencies, or related not-for-profit organizations.


We recommend you have work and prior management experience in a community college or other higher education institution, government agency, or business. You will need doctoral-level academic reading and writing skills before entering this writing-intensive program. We recommend UCSP for students who want to improve their writing skills. Admission to the program is competitive and is based on a combination of all requirements.

Darrell Cain has more than 16 years of teaching and research experience. He has presented and authored numerous articles. His research interest is centered on the pedagogical implications of teaching and learning with technology, student retention and success, and learning outcomes assessment.


Cain earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University, a master's degree from Ball State University in college student personnel administration in higher education, and a PhD in education leadership and policy studies with a minor in instructional technology from Virginia Tech University.


Cain currently serves as the president of Pierce College and has held positions as vice chancellor for student affairs, vice president of academic affairs, and dean of academic affairs. Gena Glickman was appointed as president of Massasoit Community College in Prior to taking on that role, she served as president for ten years at Manchester Community College. Glickman's focus is on student success, academic excellence, and community engagement.


She has led several initiatives to increase student success, has written articles on higher education issues, and presented at national conferences. Glickman is currently a board member of South Shore Chamber, Metro South Chamber, Brockton Partnership, and Old Colony YMCA. She has served as president of the Greater Hartford Arts Council and treasurer for the Eastern Connecticut Community Foundation, the Hartford Area Consortium for Higher Education, and the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, dissertation advising pay.
